Community Meeting 19 June 2026

On Friday 19 June, A Peace for Nature brought the local community together at Cornelly Community Centre to discuss the serious pollution incident affecting the Afon Cynffig.

The meeting gave residents an opportunity to hear directly from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, elected representatives and other invited organisations, while also asking their own questions about the incident, the environmental damage and the action being taken.

A wide range of concerns were raised, including how the pollution occurred, the response to the incident, the impact on wildlife and the river, accountability, and the need for a clear recovery plan.

The meeting was well attended and demonstrated just how strongly the local community feels about protecting the Afon Cynffig and ensuring that those responsible for managing and regulating our environment are held to account.

We would like to thank everyone who attended, contributed and helped make the evening possible, including Cornelly Community Council and Cornelly Community Centre for their support.
